What is Double Wing Express?

NYK Logistics Group has launched Double Wing Express, a global NVOCC (Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier) service building on NYK’s shipping heritage.

Inspired by NYK’s famous double wing logo, Double Wing Express (DWE) dovetails the local experience and knowledge with the combined purchasing power of NYK Logistics businesses throughout the world to provide new and existing customers with highly competitive, reliable and flexible ocean freight services from any origin to any destination.

In line with the continued growth in imports from the Far East to Europe, NYK’s European NVOCC business has grown exponentially in the last two years, with a further 30% uplift forecast in the current financial year. Worldwide, NYK’s NVOCC business handled around 300,000 TEU in 2007 and, under the DWE banner, plans to become a Million TEU Club member by 2012.

Headquartered in Hong Kong and with around 60 offices worldwide, Double Wing Express offers a complete range of services, including FCL and LCL. With a single Bill of Lading, common operating systems and procedures, automated data interchange with DWE offices and agents/suppliers worldwide and a global web-based track and trace system, DWE provides customers with a seamless service from initial enquiry to cargo delivery along with consistent service levels and complete visibility on a truly global basis.

As part of the NYK Logistics Group, DWE also provides customers with access to a wide range of added value services and a genuinely end-to-end supply chain solution, from purchase order management to home delivery.

In the UK, DWE has offices in London and Milton Keynes.

Mad about containers ?

Follow a NYK container around the world for a year: Together with the BBC and the Container Shipping Information Service, NYK have started a project to track the life of a container as it travels the world. The Box, as the container is now called, has been GPS tagged so you can see exactly where it is and what it contains.
